Hello antique auto enthusiasts! I’m Ed Strain, the founder of Ed Strain, Inc., and if you have ever asked yourself:
Where can I get a quality booster rebuild?
Should I rebuild my power brake booster?
Can I just use a rebuild kit?
Can I get MY own brake booster rebuilt?
Where can I get my booster rebuilt quickly?
Or if you’ve ever just wanted to actually speak with someone who knows what they are talking about when it comes to rebuilding power brake boosters …
… You’re in the RIGHT place!
Here’s How Ed Strain, Inc. Helps You Get Ahead In Rebuilding Your Power Brake Booster
As the famous oil well fighter Red Adair often said, “If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur.” Any serious hobbyist will tell you that restoring an antique is not cheap. But one of the most important and costly decisions you will make is choosing who will rebuild your brakes! One faulty part or one inexperienced suggestion could cost you thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours NOT TO MENTION YOUR LIFE! After all, these are your brakes that we are talking about! I’m here to save you from that headache and possible head on collision!
Here’s the deal:
I believe smart antique enthusiasts and hobbyists who want to restore their dream cars MUST find a network of trusted and experienced experts who can help guide them in their project and save them from the common pitfalls.
Have you ever gotten shafted by a mechanic, autobody shop, parts store or other “specialist” who pretended to know how to restore your car but ended up only racking up a bill? And then to add insult to injury they end up misplacing your parts or disappearing themselves … taking all of your money and leaving you with a disassembled mess! Can you afford this headache?
Instead of wasting time trying to find an experienced rebuild shop, spending hundreds of dollars on aftermarket crap that doesn’t last or won’t add value to your car…
And the best part? I’ll cut through the ambiguity, telling you exactly what you need and how you can get it.
All because I have a genuine love for people like yourself who want INSANELY PRACTICAL ADVICE that they can start benefiting from TODAY.

Introducing Ed Strain Inc (The Power Brake Booster Rebuild Shop)
Ed Strain Inc. helps antique vehicle enthusiasts by rebuilding their own power brake boosters. Let someone who has a proven track record of rebuilding power brake boosters put your mind at ease. I have rebuilt over 10,000 power brake boosters for most 1952-1964 Chevy, Buick, Pontiac, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Ford, Mercury, Packard, and the list goes on. I have a proven track record and I back up all my work with a 1 year warranty.
There are four main types of power brake boosters that we rebuild. There’s the Midland booster, the Bendix Treadle Vac and the Bendix Hydro Vac boosters, and the Delco Moraine Booster. We rebuild other types of boosters as well, but these are the four primary types of brake units that we work with.
Here’s an example of each booster and how to tell them apart.
About Ed Strain
Ed got his start in the brake restoration business when he and a buddy began buying cars, fixing them up, and then selling them to make a few extra bucks in the early 80s. It was during that time that he bought a car that changed his career forever, a 1955 Packard. He discovered that the brakes on the car didn’t work so he took the booster down to the local brake and clutch place to have it fixed. When he learned how much it was going to cost he reconsidered and told the shop that he would do the repairs himself.
With all the available parts he could buy and a Packard manual, he disassembled the brakes, did a simple repair, and put it back together … but it didn’t work. In fact, it didn’t work the second, or third time either! Come to find out, the reasons the boosters didn’t work when they were new and the reasons they didn’t work 40 years later were not the same. Finally, he figured it out and thought he would try his luck with a few more boosters. He picked up some more at a swap meet and placed his first ad in Hemmings under the Packard section in 1986 and the next thing he knew, he was in the brake business.
He soon discovered that the same unit was used on a whole lot of other vehicles which began to broaden his reach to include Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Cadillac, and even Lincoln Mercury, Edsel, and Studebakers. He did 60 boosters his first year in business and hasn’t looked back. Now he does around 700 boosters a year!
